EMBRACE BOTH SIDES OF THE COIN

    September 27, 2015

I strongly believe that in life, we only have two sides of a coin....God and devil, left and right, day and night, man and woman, rain and sunshine, female and male, right and wrong, in and out, yes and no, friends and enemies, positive and negative etc. So many times we tend to lean on one side of the coin totally disregarding the importance of the other. For example, enemies keep us awake so that we are able to work hard in life to defeat them whence friends makes us feel so secure to sleep with no care in the world. So both friends and enemies alike help us to grow in life. You can-never grow in life in seclusive of either. Often times, want to protect kids from pain and difficulty, but when we do this we deprive them of the challenges that will help them grow intellectually and emotionally.I don't think our generation of parents has embraced the notion that it is okay for our kids to experience difficulty, especially when it comes in the form of pain and sadness. We want to step in and solve their problems at school and with their friends. When kids learn that they can't cope with life's difficulties—both because their parents always seem so hell-bent on making sure that difficulties never occur, they come to fear challenges instead of using them as a ladder to scale higher. When mistakes become something to be avoided at all costs, we end up leaning towards perfectionism which in returns affects our self esteem especially when we are unable to match the set standards. Pain and suffering avail us of the opportunity to see life as it truly is. We can be completely consumed with overcoming our own pain and suffering that we miss an opportunity for ultimate understanding. ENJOY YOUR WEEK
